Tips for Selling Your Glenmore Home This Spring, Part 1

AA011590If you’re thinking of selling your home in Glenmore this spring or summer, now is the time to start planning.

Because this is an involved topic with much to cover, we’re going to break it down into two posts and focus on each aspect. For Part 1, we will be talking about the exterior of your home. This is important because first impressions are made even before prospective buyers walk through the door.

Go outside and approach your home as if you were a prospective buyer. If you aren’t sure how to do that, we suggest that you visit a Glenmore house that’s already on the market and pay attention to the details that you notice. Then go back to your house and take another look.

Consider the landscaping: Prune the shrubs. Rake out, weed, and mulch the flower beds. Walk around the yard and pick up any sticks or other debris. And once the temperatures are warmer, make sure the grass is freshly cut.

Think about cleanliness and maintenance: Make sure the exterior sparkles. Wash the windows. Power wash the siding, if necessary. Have the paint touched up. Look at the light fixtures to see if they are clean and bug- and cobweb-free, as well as check the lightbulbs to ensure they haven’t burned out. And finally, is your front door fresh and ready to greet new people?

Paying attention to curb appeal will ensure that prospective buyers are impressed before they even walk in the door.

In the next post, we’ll go inside and discuss what you need to do there.
